Employee Spotlight
Bradley Venables | Financial Advisor | Seattle, WA
Tell us a little about you & your family!
I am a happily married man and grateful dad of three. I have an 11 year old boy, 9 year old girl and a 5 year boy. They are the absolute best and keep us busy with year-round sports and girls competitive dance (advice for Jordan, stay away from competitive dance). We also have a little farm at our home with a big garden and then cats, dogs, chickens and goats. It’s a lot.
What is your job and how long have you been with SWD?
I am the financial advisor in our Seattle location. We are located in beautiful Factoria, WA, about 30 minutes from Seattle. I started in August of 2022.
What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
I am a gym rat, I love to lift weights and play pickup basketball with a bunch of guys twice a week.
What did you want to be as a child when you grew up?
I loved our now departed Seattle Supersonics, my childhood consisted of watching Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp so I wanted to play in the NBA.
Favorite local spot to visit?
There is an amazing restaurant in our area called Flatstick Pub (mini golf and other cool games) that a really good friend owns. So we drink his beer and eat his food every chance we get.
What is on your bucket list?
I would love to take my whole family, in a few years when my youngest is a bit older, on a backpacking trip throughout Italy.
What advice would you give to our clients?
Trust our process. Protecting money in retirement is more important than growing money in retirement. Trust the plan.

Please bring your donations to our Tampa office located at 3030 N. Rocky Point Dr. Suite 100, Tampa, FL 33607.
Kensi’s Causes in Denver
We will be partnering with Kenzi’s Causes in Denver to sponsor their Bowl4kidz event for our 3rd consecutive year! This event will help raise funds for Kenzi’s Causes, “that supports underprivileged children and their families throughout the state of Colorado by providing them with the tools and resources needed to truly thrive and live an overall more well-rounded life.”
Blessings in a Backpack in Louisville
We will be partnering with Blessings in a Backpack to help Wheeler Elementary, another Title I school in the area. This will help feed the children on the weekends when they otherwise would be without food. Please keep a lookout at your email on how you can help!
SuitUp in Atlanta
We will be partnering with SuitUp in Atlanta on Wednesday, March 20th from 10am – 2pm ET. Location and school are TBD. SuitUp increases career readiness for all students through innovative business plan competitions. Our staff and clients go to a school and each volunteer will be partnered with a group of students while helping them work together to come up with a solution to a real-life problem. The teams will present to a panel of judges and the winning team will receive a cash prize! We would love for our Atlanta clients to participate with us.
Hamilton Co. Humane Society in Indianapolis
We are continuing our partnership with the humane society for our 3rd year. We have sponsored multiple events in the past, including their Woofstock 5k and their Tinsel & Tails Gala. Now we are excited to more directly help out with a volunteer day. On Wednesday, March 6th from 9am – 1pm we’ll be assisting with various projects around the shelter. We hope you can join us in helping our furry friends!

Mastering Your Finances: Tips & Tricks for Smooth Tax Filing
By: Erik Bosman
Documentation and Records:
Ensure you have all necessary documentation and records in order before filing. Accounts that may generate tax forms include: IRA’s, Brokerage accounts (Individual or Joint accounts) and in some cases Roth IRA’s. If a taxable event has occurred in the account, you will receive a 1099. You may also receive a 1099 if you completed a rollover. Despite the rollover not incurring a taxable event, the IRS still wants to know that this had occurred. Please note: with the transition from TD Ameritrade to Charles Schwab in 2023 – you will receive a 1099 from both TD Ameritrade and Charles Schwab for the same account. Other documents to be on the lookout for are K-1 tax forms which would be generated if you have a Private Equity investment. These forms are generated around July.
Filing Deadlines and Extensions:
Be aware of the tax filing deadline, which is Monday, April 15th 2024. If you need more time to file, consider filing for an extension, but remember that an extension to file is not an extension to pay any taxes owed. Be sure to pay any estimated taxes by the original deadline to avoid penalties and interest. Common causes for an extension include documents that have not yet been generated such as K-1 forms from Private Equity. The reason K-1’s come out after the tax filing deadline is because they must wait until each company that the Private Equity firm is invested in has filed their taxes prior to putting together the K-1.
